Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. The excitement, the anticipation, thedecorations…all of it fills me with joy!
This pattern pulls on all of my favourite Christmassy things: gingerbread houses, Christmas trees, hot chocolates and of course, hanging the stockings for Father Christmas.
This is my daughter’s second Christmas, and I’m looking for ways to create Christmas traditions and memories for her. The idea for the Heirloom Advent came to me in the height of summer, and has turned out (though I say it myself) even more beautiful than I had imagined.
There are two options: the first is the wall hanging calendar, with pockets for all sorts of treasures (turn to the back page for lots of ideas on non-sugary suggestions) knit in DK weight yarn and backed onto felt, and the second is a super chunky blanket: perfect for snuggling under to watch Christmas films. It could be knitted in any weight yarn however, as this will just change the pocket sizes.

YARN
The wall hanging calendar is made using DK yarn and 4mm needles.
The blanket is knitted using a super bulky yarn and 9mm needle.
