Small may sound ironic given the size of the blanket, however working a square at a time has the wonderful side effect of slowing down the pace whilst giving the dopamine hit of a quick knit. And so came the name, invented by a lovely Instagram follower: Peace By Piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this pattern, you’ll find a list of materials needed, detailed instructions with photos and links to videos, layout guidance and finally, the patterns themselves. You can replicate the blanket exactly, or let your creativity run free with your own colour combinations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI really hope you enjoy this project as much as I’ve loved creating it. The heavier weight of this yarn gives the blanket the most fantastic drape, weight and works perfectly with the scale of the patterns. I used Drops Nepal, but there are alternatives suggested in this pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease feel inspired to experiment and vary the weight and composition of yarn you use! It would look fantastic knitted in a DK weight yarn, or a bulky yarn for a completely different feel and scale.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIncluded in the product images is a guide to the 21 colours used in the original blanket with estimated quantities to the nearest 50g. The idea for the Heirloom Advent came to me in the height of summer, and has turned out (though I say it myself) even more beautiful than I had imagined.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are two options: the first is the wall hanging calendar, with pockets for all sorts of treasures (turn to the back page for lots of ideas on non-sugary suggestions) knit in DK weight yarn and backed onto felt, and the second is a super chunky blanket: perfect for snuggling under to watch Christmas films.
